Verstehen

My flatmates talk a lot of German when their friends visit us. There’s also a friend who comes over frequently. So, I’ve gotten used to sitting at the table with them and listening to some incomprehensible conversations. The last time I did this was before I started speaking German with my flatmates. Tonight, she came here again and unbelievably, I could understand much more of what they were saying. Throughout their conversation, there was a big silly smile on my face out of satisfaction and excitement. =))

I’m so motivated to learn more. For a long time, my learning didn’t produce any tangible result, but now that I’m using the language, I can see my efforts haven’t been wasted.
