Recently, I decided to spend more time with my flatmates. To be more exact, two out of three of them. Through this process, they have turned into friends. It’s the first deep relationship I’ve formed with some foreigners, and it’s exciting!
On the last weekend, I went to a club with one of them and two of his friends. We played some table soccer and chilled in the smoking room. After that, another one of my flatmates arrived with three of his friends. The first flatmate went home, and I continued the night with the other one and his friends. We smoked a few cigarettes and walked to another bar and played even more table soccer. (Yep, my social skills are tied to table soccer XD) It was a good night because I talked to a lot of new people, played table soccer, and also heard a lot of German conversations. Also, I could better understand the dynamics of foreigners'(!) friend groups.
Also, at some evenings, I sit in the kitchen with a flatmate, drink wine, smoke cigarettes, and talk to eachother about our day. It feels like my apartment is finally becoming my home in its true meaning. Well, I think my decision about living in a shared apartment has been one of my best decisions.
