I used to climb mountains with the other students at Sharif almost every month. One of the things that has always been interesting to me is that in the mountain, if you have to do something, it’s better to do it at that very moment. If you are sweating, you have to remove a layer of your clothes immediately. You can’t postpone this action or else you’ll definitely be sick. If you’ve slept there and now it’s time wake up, you can’t postpone it because the timing is important and in the evening you might end up walking in the dark.
It was hard to accept for me and I finally got used to it in the hard way, probably after a few fevers, a few times of vomiting, a few times of losing the track of the group, a few injuries while walking in the dark, etc.
When I was completing the required paperwork for exiting Iran, I felt a similar thing and failed again. One might even say I lost my US visa because of this attitude.
There are a lot of failures in my life that can be exemplars of this attitude. I don’t know why but even after all of those experiences, I still can’t do the things at the right time. I’m a real procrastinator and panic monster is a dear friend of mine.
